Princess Jasmine’s speaking voice, Linda Larkin, was interviewed by PEOPLE during a media preview of the “Disney Treasure” prior to its formal maiden voyage.Despite Agrabah’s distance from France and Atlantica, Princesses Jasmine, Belle, and Ariel are still close in real life!
The speaking voice of Jasmine in a number of projects since 1992’s Aladdin, Linda Larkin told PEOPLE during a recent media preview of Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure ship ahead of its official maiden voyage that she has “a personal friendship with the other Princesses” from her “era” — especially Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in 1989’s The Little Mermaid, and Paige O’Hara, who voiced Belle in Beauty and the Beast (1991).
Larkin, 54, exclaims, “So Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle are real-life friends”.
The three of them have “a text thread” and frequently discuss “our families and our faith and our relationships, and I think just being part of the Disney legacy, as well,” according to Larkin, when asked what topics they enjoy discussing.

“We work on projects together, do things for D23, and have new projects coming out. Thus, we truly never run out of topics to discuss,” she added.
Over the years, the women have undoubtedly collaborated on a number of projects and special occasions, such as Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), which includes a humorous scene in which Sarah Silverman’s character Vanellope von Schweetz meets all of the Disney Princesses, including Mandy Moore’s voiced Rapunzel from Tangled.
“After recording independently, we were able to participate in the press junkets as a group. Larkin adds of Moore, 40, “She was great,” so it was a lot of fun.
Larkin tells PEOPLE that in addition to O’Hara, 68, and Benson, 63, she also has “a text thread” with Anika Noni Rose, who provides the voice of Tiana in The Princess and the Frog.
“She is truly amazing. The actress continues, “We had a lot of activity with D23 and our animator, Mark Henn, being named a Disney Legend, so we got to see each other a lot this year.”

Along with Benson, O’Hara, 52-year-old Rose, and Broadway veteran Lea Salonga—who sang the voice of Jasmine and the titular warrior princess in Mulan (1998)—Larkin was named a Disney Legend in 2011.
When asked if her voice is ever recognized, Larkin responds to PEOPLE, “I do get that, regularly.”
She claims that occasionally, “someone with a really good ear will do a double take,” even though she can go through life being very anonymous. “I believe my voice is recognizable, and people can tell when I’m speaking.”
Which Disney character does she most resemble in real life? According to Larkin, “I would say Rapunzel, for sure, and also Belle,” “I truly enjoy losing myself in my own world and losing myself in books.”
