
Olympian Sophie Hediger Dead At 26 ... Killed In Avalanche
Swiss snowboarder Sophie Hediger, who participated in the Beijing Games in 2022, lost her life in an avalanche on Monday. She was only twenty-six.
The tragic news was revealed by Switzerland’s skiing organisation on Tuesday, indicating that the event had place at the Arosa resort.

“Our thoughts are with Sophie’s family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences,” Swiss-Ski CEO Walter Reusser said in a statement. “We are stunned.”
At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Hediger participated in a number of competitions, including the women’s snowboard cross.
She placed second twice in World Cup tournaments in 2023–2024.

On December 14, Hediger turned 26 years old.
“For the Swiss Ski family, the tragic death of Sophie Hediger has cast a dark shadow over the Christmas holidays,” Reusser stated. “We are quite depressed. Sophie will live on in our honourable memories.
