According to authorities, a “social gathering” in Chicago on Monday resulted in three fatalities and five injuries.
At around 2:10 p.m. on December 2, Chicago Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a person shot at the 3500 block of West 59th Street, Chief of Police Jon P. Hein said at a press conference.
When officers arrived, they learned that eight people—four men and four women—had been shot and called for medical assistance.
Hein said that everyone there was between the ages of 20 and 35 and that they were there for what “appeared to be a social gathering.” “All three of the dead were men,” Hein said.
According to local organizations WFLD and WGN-TV, which cite the Chicago Police Department, one of the dead males was an adult who was shot “to the head, chest, right thigh, and right wrist” and passed away in the hospital. However, none of the victims have been made public.

According the to the outlets, the two other people were declared dead at the scene after suffering “multiple gunshot wounds to the body”. The Chicago Police Department was contacted by PEOPLE, but they did not respond right away.
Hein acknowledged during Monday’s press conference that “there have been calls of service at this residence,” but he said it is too soon to determine a motive. He promised that the department would track down the person or people who were behind the “heinous, terrible incident.”
When shots were fired, neighbors told WLS-TV that a big house party was taking place. El Towers, a witness, told the network, “I started hearing shots, very loud shots, maybe a lot of them.” I’m not sure how many.
Skyscrapers, who grew up in the area, said in an interview with Tv news that crime has been “bad like this ever since I was a kid.”
